Dayton Society of Artists Juried Show
Opening Reception: Friday, July 7th, 6-9PM
The very act of making art defies convention. Yet in the age where artists play freely with established rules and styles, un-convention takes on new meanings. For some, it could be the way in which an artist approaches material whether through process or the lack thereof. Or it could be the newness - the experience an audience has in that significant moment when one sees, feels and exists in a new reality. The authenticity of this connection between the audience and art breaks the convention of the everyday. Another way in which convention is defied is through the contemporary psychology of the artistic expression. Artists communicate content in various means to answer the question of selfhood. This may manifest through many forms and styles such as political, traditional, and conceptual to name just a few.
